How It Works (3 Steps)

• Step 1: Complete Online Coursework
  Register independently at AHA eLearning to complete the self-paced online knowledge portion of Basic Life Support (BLS) (typically takes 1 to 2 hours). Print or save your Course Completion Certificate. 
• Step 2: Schedule Your Hands-On Skills Check
  When: Thursday's only (by appointment). Deadline: You must complete this hands-on check within your employer's required timeframe, but absolutely within 60 days of finishing your online coursework. Requirements: Email your online Course Completion Certificate to [email protected] or bring a copy to your appointment. Time: You will demonstrate your skills on a practice manikin with a certified AHA instructor (takes 30-60 minutes 1-on-1; 1–2 hours for groups).
• Step 3: Receive Your Certification
  After passing both steps, you will receive an official AHA eCard. Your certification is valid for two years.

Important Rules for Certification Type:

• Initial certification: For individuals who have never been certified before.
• Renewal training: For individuals who have a valid, non-expired AHA BLS card.

Note: If your current card is expired, you must register and complete the full initial certification course.
