The American Heart Association (AHA) provides online classes through their website. You can independently register and finish any course on the platform. After completing an online class, you must email a copy or present a Course Completion Certificate and demonstrate your hands-on skills check in the presence of a Certified AHA Instructor. This should be done within the time frame specified by your employer or within 45 days of completing the online class to obtain certification. Course completion card is valid for 2 years. Bella Medical Associates training center is Atrium Health.
General Terminology:
- Initial certifications- individuals who have never been certified before.
- Renewal training is done by a certified person who has already gone through initial certification training once and still holds a valid BLS card.

To get American Heart Association BLS renewal, you must have a valid (non-expired) BLS card. If your card has expired, you will need to complete the entire initial certification course again for recertification.
